Gonorrhoea, known as ‘the clap’ is the second most common STI in the UK. Young men aged 20-24 and women aged 16-19 are most affected.

Once again symptoms may not appear however you might notice some changes to your body:

  • A strong, unpleasant smelling thick discharge from the vagina, which may appear green or yellow in colour

  • Pain or tenderness in the lower abdominal area, including a burning sensation when urinating (weeing)

  • Frequent need to urinate (wee)

  • Irritation or discharge from the anus (back passage)

  • Bleeding between periods or heavier periods
